Arrhythmias or palpitations often are due to micro circuits or electrical faults in the heart.  Sometimes doctors can find clues as to the cause from an ECG - an external recording of your heart or Holter monitor - a tape recording of your heart usually over a 24 hour period. Some patients are helped by in hospital investigations such as an electrophysiologic study which allows the doctor to study the pattern and spread of the normal electrical signals in the heart and try and find micro faults in this that cause your palpitations.  What to do and the options of treatment hinge on your history, examination and some of the above investigations.   Please contact me today to schedule an appointment (T: 02-98069600).
